Thumbs Up!Staff Training...

All staff at Elmleigh receive training, based on the Learning Disability Award Framework. It is our policy for all new staff to undertake a Training Induction Programme, both in-house, and through West Nottinghamshire College.  This is followed by the Foundation in Care course for those staff who lack experience in this specialist area.

As well as the statutory modules of First Aid, Moving & Handling, Food Hygiene Awareness and  Dealing with Challenging Behaviour we also routinely train our staff in Cross Infection Prevention, Needs of older residents (over 65), Administration of medication and drugs and Protection of Vulnerable Adults.  All training needs are reviewed and updated regularly.

At any one time, we aim for at least 50% of Elmleigh staff to have a minimum qualification equivalent to NVQ level 2 in Care. At the same time we actively encourage members of staff to further their studies in Care.  Of our 13 current members of staff, 7 have achieved NVQ level 2 in Care, and two of these have reached level 3.  Our manager will be expected to be qualified to at least NVQ Level 4 in Care with the Registered Managers Award as well to keep us in line with Commission for Social Care Inspection requirements.
