Philosophy...
Elmleigh provides homely care for people with special needs that have affected their development and learning abilities. We try to cater for these as fully as we can and to the best of our abilities. We aim to provide our residents with the kind of life that they would expect to receive if they lived on their own or with their families, whilst at the same time providing them with the care, support and opportunities for development that they need. We aim to make our residents full members of the local community and for them to make a contribution in return. We treat all our residents as individuals, and show them the dignity and respect that we expect of ourselves. We welcome people with special needs from different cultural and social backgrounds/circumstances and make no distinction between them.
Activities...
Resident activities are numerous and we have an in-house activities co-ordinator who arranges various interests such as cooking and film clubs. We have 2 mini-buses with which we can take people on outings and holidays. Currently, we aim to have at least one holiday a year in a resort chosen by the residents and for the past few years we have managed a 2nd holiday again at a pleasant seaside resort.
Most of our residents attend a day centre during the week and some also go out to work.
